Iran's international documentary film festival, the Cinema Verite, has opened its 12th edition in the capital city of Tehran on Sunday.
The 12h Cinema Verite has selected Iranian documentary ‘For Freedom’ by Hossein Torabi as the opening film.
Twelve Iranian cineastes, including Babak Hamidiyan and Farhad Aslani, are among the cast and crew of some of the 71 documentaries participating at the national competition section of the 2018 Cinema Verite.
Cannes-winning documentary 'Samouni Road' is also set to be displayed at the event.
Iran’s House of Documentary is reportedly taking part in the festival with eight documentaries.
Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of the Cinema Verite was held in 2007.
Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary film calendar.
The organizers of the festival said this year’s edition of the event will be held in Iranian cities of Isfahan, Bushehr, Tabriz, Sari, and Shiraz in addition to Tehran simultaneously.
The 12th edition of the Cinema Verite will wrap up on December 16, 2018.
