600 foreign movies have requested to attend the 9th edition of Varesh International Film Festival in Iran.
According to the international manager of the Iranian film event, Elahe Nobakht, who attended a press conference on Sunday, more than 600 movies from different countries have been sent to the secretariat of the festival.
Call for entries of the 9th edition of Varesh International Film Festival was announced on November 22, 2018 and is due to end on January 30, 2019.
Varesh features short films running 100 seconds to 40 minutes in the three categories of main, international, and special section.
The festival has been taking place in the city of Babol, Mazandaran province since 1999.
The festival’s main objective in the international section is to introduce the common cultural heritage of various Caspian Sea littoral ethnic groups whose film productions deal with common religious, cultural, geographical and historical themes. Other aims of the festival include identifying new talents in short film production, encouraging filmmakers to produce religious titles, introducing cultural issues.
The 9th edition of Varesh International Film Festival will be held in April, 2019, in the Northern Iranian city of Babol.
