‘Empty View’ to vie in US

Iran animated short film ‘Empty View’ has made it to Bronx World Film Cycle, Winter 2019 in the United States.

The animation will reportedly take part in the competition section of the 8th edition of Bronx World Film Cycle, set to be held on January 4-6, 2019.

Written and directed by Ali Zare-Qanatnowi, 'Empty View' tells the story of a mother anxiously awaiting the return of her son from war.

The animation was designed and produced in more than two years. It combines the 2D and 3D animation techniques for the first time in Iranian cinema on such scale.

The film has attended many international festivals and garnered several awards.

Last month, ‘Empty View’ won the best animation award at the 2018 edition of the Strasburg Film Festival in the US.

It has also won the best animation award at the UK Monthly Film Festival, Best Animation award from the December edition of the Los Angeles Film Awards in the US, Best Short Film Award at the 6th Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival in South Korea, and an award at the 8th Amsterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands.

The animated piece has also grabbed three awards at the 3rd Best Short Fest in Canada, the 3rd Great Message International Film Festival in India, and the 2018 Raíces International Short Film Festival in Argentina.

Bronx World Film, founded in 2011, is a pioneering New York City organization dedicated to world cinema as an artistic form with the potential to create alternatives for integral human development.

“It has created a unique vehicle, not only for film from the region, but also for its various cultural expressions along with films from all over the world,” festival’s official website notes.
