Iranian actor Mehdi Mahani has been awarded ‘Best Matrioshka Actor in a Leading Role’ at the Moscow Indie Film Festival for his lead role in Shahram Asadzadeh’s ‘Supine’.
The film which is about the detrimental effects of drug-addiction on the abuser and the people surrounding him was shot in one single take, making Mahani’s role much more difficult, yet unique.
In ‘Supine’, Mahani plays the role of a character named ‘Shahrokh’ who has a difficult time telling the real world apart from his illusions, causing irreparable damage to himself and the people around him.
Previously, the two-hour long take feature had appeared at the One Take Film Festival in Croatia last fall.
The Moscow Indie Film Festival, known for being one of the most filmmaker-friendly independent film festivals of the world, helps promote independent filmmakers to a larger audience.
