Fajr Fest to honor Ezzatollah Entezami

The 37th edition of Fajr Film Festival is to commemorate late legendary actor Ezzatollah Entezami.     

Iran cinema lost its legendary actor Ezzatollah Entezami on August 17, 2018.

The festival is also to pay tribute to Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Khosro Khosroshahi, Abbas Ganjavi and Azizollah Hamidnejad.

Entezami debut performance was in Dariush Mehrjoui’s ‘The Cow’ (1969), which brought him a Golden Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival in 1971.

He is a recipient of various other accolades, including two Fajr International Film Festival’s Crystal Simorghs for Best Actor in ‘Grand Cinema’ (1988) and ‘Angel’s Day’ (1993); and a certificate of Merit from the Fajr Festival for ‘Nassereddin Shah, Film Actor’ (1991).

Entezami also served as a member of jury grid for three rounds of Fajr Filmfest before.

Fajr Film Festival is Iran's annual film festival held every February on the anniversary of the Iranian revolution by Farabi Cinema Foundation, under the auspices of Iran’s Ministry of Culture.

Established in 1982, the festival displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

The 37th Fajr Film Festival will take place in the Iranian capital of Tehran from February 1 to 11, 2019.
