An Iranian troupe is set to perform a play about the abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib American-operated prison in the capital Tehran.
‘Mach, Abu Ghraib Prison’, directed by Amanda Azad, will be performed at Sarv Theater starting Sunday and will continue for 10 nights, the Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense Theater Community announced Saturday.
Written by Hamed Eslami, the play is starring Omid Khakdan and Mohammad-Javad Nateqi Azad.
Following the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, disturbing images showing abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison, located west of Baghdad, emerged in 2004, drawing international condemnation to the way US military personnel treated prisoners.
