French filmfest to screen Iran ‘Pet Man’

The 10th edition of the Ciné-court animé International Short Film Festival in France has scheduled to screen Iranian short animation ‘Pet Man’.

Directed by Marzieh Abrar-Paydar in 2016, the film was produced in DEFC, the Iranian center for development of documentary and experimental cinema.

‘Pet Man’ tells the story of a pet shop owner sleeping in the shop. He sees himself in a scary cage with other animals. Trying to break the cage, he faces a barrier every time.

The animation has so far taken part at a number of international events, including the 40th Festival international du Court Metrage in France, the 21st Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival in South Korea, the 27th Arizona International Film Festival in the US, the 10th Cinema Planeta Film Festival in Mexico, the 5th Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon, the 2017 Innsbruck Nature Film Festival in Austria, the AniFestROZAFA in Albania, the 26th Anima Mundi - Film Festival in Brazil, the 2018 Horrible Imaginings Film Festival in the US, the 2018 China International Green Film Week, and the 2018 Inshort Film Festival in Nigeria.

‘Pet Man’ was nominated for awards at the 10th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival 2017, went on screen at 2017 Seoul International Extreme-Short Image & Film Festival in South Korea, and shortlisted among top 15 in the 10th Canterbury International Animation Film Festival in the UK.

It recently received Best Animation Award from the Largo International Film Festival in Switzerland and is also set to compete at the 14th annual Athens International Animation Festival – ANIMFEST – in Greece.

The 10th edition of animation short film festival in Roanne, France will take place March 18-24, 2019.
