Romanian filmfest nominates ‘Watch Me’

Animated flick ‘Watch Me’ directed by Reza Mehranfar has been nominated for the children’s category of the 10th Short to the Point Film Festival in Romania.

Mehranfar’s latest animation was recently featured at various film festivals across the world including the Oxford Film Festival in the US, the International Film Festival on Disability, and the Tehran Short Film Festival.

“A boy lives in a world of anxiety and fear; fear which is meaningless to others and is therefore ignored. Normal life goes on, but all he experiences is darkness and loneliness,” a plot summary for 'Watch me' reads.

Mehranfar said his motive behind making the film is that “The elders most of the times forget that the world of children and their perception completely differ from people with our experience.”

He said the animation aims to show that ignoring the world of the children could have serious and irreversible effects on the psyche of the child.

Founded in 2009, the Short to the Point is an international film festival active in the distribution, broadcasting, and promotion of short films on an international level.

The festival offers monthly as well as annual awards for short films in various categories.

Winners of the 10th edition of the film festival will be announced on March 31, 2019.
