Lithuanian film ‘Summer Survivors’ has been set to screen at the 37th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.
Marija Kavtaradze’s debut feature film will attend the "Festival of Festivals" section of the Iranian film event. The mentioned section which is among the non-competition ones accepts movies that have already attended and gained awards from some of the most prestigious film festivals around the world.
In 2017, Kavtaradze attended the 35th edition of the Iranian film Festival as a student of ‘Talent Campus’.
‘Summer Survivors’ narrates the story of a social worker who ventures on a road trip along with two institutionalized patients seeking psychiatric help.
The film has so far attended a number of festivals including the 2018 Athens International Film Festival.
Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
The 37th International Fajr Film Festival is scheduled to take place in the country’s capital of Tehran on April 18-26, 2019.
