Fajr Festival to screen German movies

Lineup of three German movies have been picked to screen at the 37th edition of Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.

The ‘Retrospective of German cinema’ section of the festival will screen a total number of six movies; three of which have been announced: ’25 km/h’, ‘As Green as It Gets’ and ‘The Keeper’.

Directed by Markus Goller, ’25 km/h’ has already won a number of nominations such as a nod for best feature film at the 2019 German Film Awards. The film narrates the story of two brothers who decide to fulfill their childhood dream of travelling around Germany on their motorbikes, an idea that is triggered at their father’s funeral.

‘As Green as It Gets’ is directed by Florian Gallenberger who was a member of jury at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival. The film shows how an old gardener who faces a big number of problems in his life decides to venture on a trip on an old airplane.

And the third on the list is a biographical film named ‘The Keeper’ directed by Marcus H. Rosenmuller. It details the events leading to German World War 2 soldier Bert Trautmann’s becoming an English football legend.

Established in 1982, Fajr International Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 37th edition of the Iranian film event will screen films in 9 categories, some of which are International Competition, Eastern Vista, Festival of Festivals, Popular Genre Films and Burn Olives which is a window to the changes in the world of Islam today.
