2019 Fajr International Film Festival is set to screen newly found behind-the-scenes of Iran award-winning classic 'The Cow' after 50 years.
The classic movie from Iran cinema directed by Dariush Mehrjouee was awarded FIPRESCI Prize at Venice International Film Festival in 1971.
According to a media release from FIFF, the discovered item will be screened at the 2019 edition of the event just 50 years after its premiere, adding many famed Iranian actors such as Ezzatolah Entezami, Jamshid Mashayekhi and Ali Nassirian were featured there.
The footage was found in the negative stripes left from the film, showing the make-up tests for these actors. Mehrjouee compelling symbolic drama which shows the rural impoverishment that existed under the Shah.
The event has screened many preserved classics from Iran cinema in previous runs of the international film event annually held in Iran.
Established in 1982, the FIFF is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
The 37th edition of the festival is slated for April 18-26, 2019 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
