Oscar-winning ‘The Exorcist’ to go on screen in Iran

Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) is to screen the well-known horror movie ‘The Exorcist’ directed by William Friedkin.

The forum plans to screen a number of horror movies in spring including ‘The Exorcist’.

‘The Exorcist’, an American film released in 1973, was adapted from William Peter Blatty’s novel of the same name.

The movie which is the story of a 12-year-old girl under demonic possession and her mother’s attempts to free her was the first horror film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.

The movie was nominated for 10 Oscars and finally succeeded to win Sound Mixing and Adapted Screenplay Awards.

Some stars who appeared in the movie are Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair, Max Von Sydow, and Jason Miller.

Iranian Artists Forum also plans to screen some other horror movies including ‘The Omen’ by Richard Donner, ‘The Shining’ by Stanley Kubrick and ‘Misery’ by Rob Reiner.

All the mentioned titles will be screened with Persian subtitle.
