Directed by Mohammad-Reza Vatandoust, the documentary ‘Lotus’ has garnered the Best Director Documentary award at the 18th edition of the Beirut International Film Festival (BIFF) in Lebanon.
The documentary tells the story of an old woman who has been waiting for 12 years to get permission to enter an island. She has been waiting to see the only resident who lives on the island.
The victorious documentary has participated at a number of international festivals and garnered some top awards. Some of the festivals have been the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and the Roshd International Film Festival.
The first edition of the BIFF was held in October 1997. The BIFF is one of the most credible film festivals in Asia and the Middle East. The event is known as the festival of directors.
The 18th BIFF was held on April 22-28, 2019, in Lebanon.
