'The Gradual Death of a Dream' actor talks with ifilm

'The Gradual Death of a Dream' actor Setareh Eskandari reveals exclusively to ifilm the reasons for appearing mostly in cameo roles.

The popular actor in ifilm series such as 'Haft-Seen' said in response to the channel’s interviewer Hanieh Khavari as to her cameo appearances in movies and series, "I value acting a lot and dont calculate things in terms of money."

She added, "I never measure things in acting as well. If I see that it is worthwhile to play a role, even if it's a short one, I will do it, but it's important for me to see the whole work as a success."

Most recently, ifilm English channel has aired 'A Passenger to Rey' in which the actress plays a rather short but impressive role.

Also responding to a query about why the actress still plays in theater despite her fame on the big screen, she said, "I love theater. Honestly, I grew up with  theater, and I cannot help it. Theater is so valuable to me that I cannot compare it with anything else."

In the interview, the actress told ifilm she has unknowingly kept distance from cinema and TV, especially the cinema, and "surely this question should be answered by others, not me."

She also insinuated that the reason could be less appealing offers from directors that she prefers not to accept.

Setareh Eskandari quit studying English translation at university to enter the world of theater.

The Iranian actress made her television debut in 1995 and found fame with the series ‘Narges’ (2006).

She made her cinematic debut in ‘Rival of the Heart’ in 1997 and won the Best Actress Award at the Fajr theater festival in 2001 for ‘The Joy of Influencing the Lives of the Unfortunate’.

Eskandari has starred in the series ‘The Gradual Death of a Dream’ (2006), ‘Until Morning’ (2006), ‘Factor 8’ (2008), ‘Passion to Fly’ (2011), and Haft-Seen (2013).

Her movies include ‘The Visitor to Rey’ (2000), ‘Parya's Story’ (2010), ‘Yousef’ (2010) and ‘Unplanned’ (2013).
