Iranian titles grab 4 awards in Italy

Iranian films have received four awards at the April 2019 edition of the Milestone Worldwide Film Festival in Italy.

Erfan Qasempour’s ‘14+2 Days’ won Best Documentary award and Best Screenplay award went to Payam Mahmoudi-Kordestani’s ‘Nietzschean-Fashion Suicide’.

Pourya Pishvaee received Best Cinematography award for ‘Birthday Night’ written and directed by Omid Shams.

Fatemeh Mohammadi grabbed Best First Time Director award for ‘Oblivion’.

‘Birthday Night’ narrates the story of two friends and business partners, Ahmad and Ali, who face unexpected challenges on their birthday night.

Shams’s title received the best short film award from the Tehran International Short Film Festival, the grand prix at the 16th Third Eye Film Festival in India, Best of the Fest award at the 7th Short. Sweet. Film Fest in the US, Best Short Film award at 2018 Linz International Short Film Festival in Austria, and Special Jury Award at the 16th Wegiel Film Festival in Poland.

It has also gone on screen at events such as the 40th Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in France, the 2018 MOOOV Filmfestival in Belgium, the 36th Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival in the US, and the 2018 International Amity Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Produced by Iranian Youth Cinema Society, ‘Oblivion’ depicts the challenges facing people in their old ages.

The Iranian short film received an award at the 2018 Moondance International Film Festival in US, second Best Film award at the 2nd Shahu International Film Festival in India, Best Student Film award at the 2019 Diamond Film Awards in Italy, and Best Short Film Cultural Diversity award at the 2019 Setting Sun Film Festival in Australia.

The Milestone Worldwide Film Festival is a festival with annual Live Audience screening and Award ceremony in the Italian town of Battipaglia.
