The 2019 Sydney Film Festival is scheduled to screen ‘Cold Sweat’.
‘Cold Sweat’ is Soheil Beiraqi’s debut film based on a true story about Afrouz Ardestani, the captain of Iran women’s national futsal team.
Starring Baran Kosari, Amir Jadidi and Sahar Dolatshahi, Afrouz’s lifelong dream seems to be vanishing and wasting away when her husband uses his legal right to prevent her leaving the country for the Asian Games final in Malaysia.
The movie has been screened at numerous international events before, including the 31st Tokyo Int’l Film Festival in Japan, the 29th Stockholm Int’l Film Festival in Sweden, the 9th Cinema and Human Rights Festival in France, the 8th Int’l Film Festival of Panama, the 33rd Washington DC Int’l Film Festival in the US, and the 2019 Glasgow Film Festival in Scotland.
‘Cold Sweat’ brought Kosari the Jury Prize at the 2019 Dublin Film Festival in Ireland as well as Best Actress Award from the 2018 Carcassonne Film Festival in France.
Among other accolades grabbed by the flick are Crystal Simorgh for the Best Actor in a Leading Role for Amir Jadidi and a Crystal Simorgh for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Sahar Dolatshahi at the 36th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.
The Sydney Film Festival is an annual film festival drawing international and local attention, with films being showcased in several venues across the city centre and includes features, documentaries, short films, retrospectives, films for families and animations.
The screening film event will take place on June 5- 16, 2019 in the Australian city of Sydney.
