Iran’s doc ‘Amnesia’ screened in Cannes

Iran’s documentary ‘Amnesia’ has received a screening session in the market section of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival in France.

‘Amnesia’ directed by Hassan Akhondpour received the Cannes Film Market screening on Saturday.

Produced by Samen Research Institute, the documentary is about the renovation of the area surrounding Imam Reza’s (AS) Holy Shrine in the Iranian city of Mashhad in the past 50 years.

‘Amnesia’ was screened at Art and Experience Cinema Group in Iran.

It was also nominated for Best Documentary at the 18th edition of the Hafez Awards in Iran.

The films ‘Forest of Silence’ directed by Soheil Abdollahi, ‘Cinema Donkey’ by Shahed Ahmadlou and ‘The Elephant King’ by Hadi Mohammadian from Iran have also been accepted at this year’s edition of the Cannes Film Market.

The Cannes Film Market, the largest film market in the world, is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival.

The 2019 Cannes Film Market kicked off on May 14 and will last until May 23.
