Iranian documentary ‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’ is to have international premiere.
Directed by Reza Farahmand, the copyright of the doc, which was offered at the 2019 Cannes Film Market, has been purchased by the British-based Journeyman Pictures Company.
Farahmand’s latest production tells the story of a female journalist named Nur. Nur covers stories about Syrian and Iraqi women and children in the war against the Daesh terrorists.
Award for best feature-length documentary and best director from the 11th Cinema Verite - Iran’s major international festival of documentary – is one of the many honors received by Farahmand.
The doc was also nominated for the best film from the audience's point of view at the Germany’s 2018 Dok Leipzig.
‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’ previously took part at the 71st Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland and the 15th International Documentary Film Festival ZagrebDox in Croatia as well as the 8th ÍRÁN:CI Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
