‘Slaughter’ awarded at Estonian filmfest

Iranian short film ‘Slaughter’ has been awarded at "The Unprecedented Cinema" International Festival of Short Film in Estonia.

Directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand-Karimi, the short film was awarded Best Fiction Film at the festival’s 19th annual event.

‘Slaughter’ depicts the story of a family in a small village which owns only one cow. In order to make it through a tough winter, the family is forced to sell the cow. Unhappy with the family’s decision, the son decides to set the cow free.

Winner of the Best Cinematography at Philippines’s 2019 Asian Cinematography Awards, the short flick has been screened at numerous international film festivals, including the 12th International Glasgow Short Film Festival in Scotland, the 12th Kustendorf Film and Music Festival in Serbia, and the ninth FOKUS film festival in Denmark.

Also awarded at the festival was Iranian short flick ‘Crossing the Bridge’ by Mohammad Khalili which won the festival’s Diploma of the Festival award.

The Unprecedented Cinema International Festival of Short Film aims to showcase contemporary audiovisual creations from young filmmakers.

Over the years, the festival has hosted films from over 70 countries around the world.

The 2019 event was held from May 16-19, 2019.
