Cannes Film Market offers Iran lineup

Iran’s Art Bureau of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization has displayed a lineup of its latest movies at the Cannes Film Market in France.

The lineup includes four documentaries. The docs are ‘A House for You’ by Mehdi Bakhshi-Moqaddam, ‘Dilag’ by Abbas Rafiee and Safiollah Hosseini, ‘The 40th Day’ by Hamid Kouhpaee, and ‘Captain 22’ by Arman Qolipur-Dashtaki.

‘A House for You’ is about Davoud who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and his dream is to build a house for his beloved wife.

‘Dilag’ is in praise of an old man in an Iranian village for his exuberant enjoyment of life.

‘The 40th Day’ revolves around the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

‘Captain 22’ is about a drug addict who begins to encourage youth to play sports after he can complete a drug rehab program.

The lineup also includes ‘Main Idea’ by Azita Mougouee and ‘Once Upon a Time a Woman’ by Jalil Akbari-Sehhat.

‘Main Idea’ is about the serious attempt made by people and companies to win a tender for a joint project between Iran and Spain.

The list goes on with two animations; ‘Lopeto’ by Abbas Askari and ‘The Last Fish’ by Masoud Saemin.

The Cannes Film Market, the largest film market in the world, is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival.

It was created in 1959 and has been held annually since then, simultaneously with the major international film event.

The 2019 Cannes Film Market was held in May.
