Palm Springs Filmfest to host ‘Umbra’

Iranian short film ‘Umbra’ is slated to be screened at the Palm Springs Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Saeed Jafarian, the short film will vie at the 2019 edition of the festival.

‘Umbra’ is to represent Iran at the 25th edition of the event alongside four other Iranian short films.

The film is about a young woman who realizes a few minutes after midnight that she is alone. She goes out worried in the darkness of streets.

‘Umbra’ has previously participated at the Cinéfondation section of the 71st Cannes Film Festival, the 2018 Vila do Conde film festival in Portugal, the 17th Silhouette Film Festival in France, the 42nd Toronto International Short Film Festival in Canada, the 2018 Batumi International Art House Film Festival in Georgia, the 37th Uppsala International Short Film Festival in Sweden, the 14th MEDFILM Festival in Italy, the 20minmax International Short Film Festival in Germany, and the Brussels Short Film Festival in Belgium.

The film has also attended the 27th St. Louis Film Festival, the 10th San Joaquin International Film Festival, and the 2018 AFI FEST, all in the US.

Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) aims to cultivate and promote the art and science of film through education and cross-cultural awareness.

The festival is slated for June 18-24, 2019.
