Alireza Amini’s ‘Accordion’ has won an award at the Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne in Australia.
The film which had the international premiere at the event, won the Best Feature (No-Budget under $25,000) award.
Produced in 2016 and 2017, the comedy revolves around the adventures of some patients at a psychiatric clinic on a northern Iran island.
Mehran Ahmadi, Borzou Arjmand, Mohammad-Reza Davoudnejad, Pejman Jamshidi, Majid Salehi, Hadi Kazemi, Mohammad-Reza Hedayati and Omid Rohani are among the most notable actors in the movie.
The Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne is interested not just in films with potential commercial success but films of artistic merit and scope.
The goal is to build a festival that will be on par with Sundance, Cannes, and other major festivals but geared to the truly independent filmmaker, actor, and script writer.
