Phoenix Filmfest awards two Iran productions

The 2019 Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne has awarded two Iran productions.

The awarded titles include ‘The Incomplete’ by Erfan Parsapour and ‘Mysteries of the Lake’ by Armin Isarian.

Isarian took home Best Documentary Film Award in No-Budget under $25,000 category of the event while ‘The Incomplete’ brought Parsapour Best Feature Award under the competition category of Budget under $250,000.

‘The Incomplete’ is a seven-minute animated short film on the story of a hungry Otter, but a perfectionist and obsessive one who wants everything complete in a perfect world; a world that has countless favorable chances to have.

Isarian has tried to introduce the archeological site of Takht-e-Soleyman in northwest of Iran and explore the dark depths of the lake.

ifilm has earlier reported that Alireza Amini’s ‘Accordion’, AKA 'I'm Not Crazy', has also grabbed Best Feature (No-Budget under $25,000) Award.

The Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne aims “to build a festival to be on par with Sundance, Cannes, and other major festivals but geared to the truly independent filmmaker, actor, and script writer.”

The event wrapped up on June 2, 2019 in Melbourne.
