The 16th annual Nahal International Student Short Film Festival officially kicked off yesterday in Tehran.
Tehran University of Art director Seyed Hassan Soltani, director of the university’s school of cinema and theater Shahabeddin Adel, and the school’s vice president of cultural affairs Bijan Arbabi began the ceremony by speaking about the development of the Nahal festival.
During the ceremony, the trailer from the festival’s first edition was screened followed by a speech from the festival’s first director Mohammad Haddadi.
Reza Bastani, the current director of the festival, also spoke at the event followed by a screening of the trailer for this year’s festival and a performance by the music group ‘The Astronauts’.
A segment honoring the award-winning film editor Bahram Dehghan was also held featuring the screening of a documentary honoring the renowned figure.
Actors Reza Kianian, Pantea Panahiha, Khosro Dehghan, Rasoul Sadrameli, Gholam-Reza Azadi, Saeed Roustaee, and many other Iranian film industry figures were among the audience during the screening.
The festival concluded with the announcement of the jury for the festival’s national and international competitions followed by a musical performance.
