The 2019 edition of the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films in the US has set to screen Iranian short ‘Dissect’.
“Police have entered a school to investigate the sudden death of a student,” a synopsis for the film reads.
Directed by Siavash Shahabi, among the cast are Alireza Sanifar, Tino Salehi, Mehdi Aqajani, Mohammad-Amin Ashtiani, Mohammad Jafarnejad, Mohammad Akbari, Hossein Gholami, Ilia Nasrollahi, Arian Farzaneh, Shirin Ebrahimi, and Afsaneh Seifi.
‘Dissect’ has gone on screen at the 59th Krakow Film Festival in Poland and is slated to compete at the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival in China.
It has won a Grand Prix at the Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran.
Earlier reports said that Iranian short films ‘Umbra’ by Saeed Jafarian and ‘Birthday Night’ by Omid Shams will also participate at the same edition of the Palm Springs.
The Oscar-qualifying event is “the largest short film festival and market in North America,” according to the gala’s website.
The 25th edition of the event will take place in the city of Palm Springs in California on June 18-24, 2019.
