Italy to host ‘The Day of Duty’

Iranian short ‘The Day of Duty’ directed by Ali Khoshdouni-Farahani has been set to compete at the 17th edition of the Ischia Film Festival in Italy.

“During a ritual ceremony in a multi-grade school, Pardis, a high school student, is obligated to accompany an elementary student called Naghmeh.

To maintain the order of the ceremony in front of the higher officials, the head master of the school is forced to put Pardis in charge and by doing so, introduce her not as a student, but as Naghmeh's older sister,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘The Day of Duty’ has received the Special Jury Prize for best film at the 9th Varesh International Film Festival in Iran.

The film also attended some festivals such as the Beeston Film Festival in the UK and the Taoba International Youth Film Festival in Georgia.

‘The Day of Duty’ brings to two the number of films representing Iran at the Ischia gala.

Earlier reports said that Iran’s short film ‘Slaughter’, co-directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand-Karimi, will vie at the 2019 edition of the Ischia.

The 17th edition of the Ischia Film Festival will kick off in Ischia on June 29 and last until July 6, 2019.
