‘African Violet’ wins award in Lebanon

‘African Violet’ has won an award at the Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon.

Directed by Mona Zandi, the movie won the special jury award at the event.

‘African Violet’ represented Iran at the main competition section of the sixth edition of the Tripoli festival.

'African Violet' narrates the story of Shuku and her second husband who decides to bring Shuku's first husband home, after being taken to nursing home by his children.

Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Reza Babak and Saeed Aghakhani are the main cast of the film.

Founded in 2014, the Tripoli Film Festival is a serious attempt to broaden the network of film-making and networking in Lebanon among young filmmakers. It is an open door to discuss film productions in Lebanon and the Middle East.

The 2019 edition of the festival was held in June 9 – 19 in Lebanon.
