ifilm picks drama-doc featuring Ashura

A rave review for ifilm weekend pick says 'Iraq, the Evening of the Tenth Day' is a drama-doc featuring mourning ritual for Imam Hussein (AS).

The review also notes Mojtaba Raei's work is set in Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala with the search theme highlighted in the flick.

Characters in the movie find their incentives to move on through questions they carry along from their past and overshadow their thoughts and behavior.

'Iraq, the Evening of the Tenth Day' follows the story of a young lady played by Hanieh Tavasoli who arrives in Iraq in search of her lost sister. She follows up her own personal concerns in disguise of an aid worker on humanitarian mission.

According to the review, the most impressive sequence of the flick is the one featuring a mourning ritual known as Tuwairij for the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Such ritual taking place on the Day of Ashura and the lady’s search for her sister nicely merge together and that makes this flick a drama documentary for sure.

Tuwairij is a running pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) done in remembrance of the late arrival of the inhabitants of Twuairij village to Karbala on the Day of Ashura.
