The Edmonton International Film Festival picks three Iranian shorts and one doc as possible Oscar entry candidates.
According to a press release from the Oscar qualifying fest, 'Greyish’ by Eqghal Shirazi, ‘Driving Lessons’ by Marziyeh Riahi ‘Beloved’ by Yaser Talebi and ‘Magralen’ by Maryam Zarei are the the official selections.
‘Beloved’ by Talebi is the doc among the lineup while ‘Magralen’ is a joint production of Iran and Canada.
The Edmonton International Film Festival's (EIFF) mission is to present an annual celebration of cinema as a means to transform the way people see the world.
The 33rd run of the fest is set to be held September 26-October 5, 2019.
EIFF is an Oscar qualifying festival for short filmmakers in the Live Action and Animation categories.
