Shahr Int'l filmfest picks Peyman Maadi as juror

Iranian award-winning actor/director Peyman Maadi has been picked as juror at the 7th Shahr International Film Festival.

This year edition of the Iranian film event has invited ‘Bomb, a Love Story’ director to be a jury member of its international competition section. He will be sharing the task with filmmakers such as Jordan Hollander from the Netherlands, Abbas Yousefi filmmaker from Syria and Pouran Derakhshandeh also from Iran.

As an actor Payman has so far appeared in several award-winning flicks such as ‘about Elly’, ‘Melbourne’ and ‘Life and a Day’.

His role in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning flick ‘A Separation’ won him a Silver Bear award from the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.

He has also written screenplays for and directed a number of successful hits such as ‘The Snow on the Pines’ which won the Audience Award for Best Film from the 31st Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

The Shahr International Film Festival is Iran's most important cinematic event related to urban management in promotion of appropriate urban and industrial life patterns.

It is organized annually by the Urban Image Institute, the Artistic and Cultural Organization of Tehran Municipality.

The Shahr Film Festival aims to identify creative and innovative cinematic works of urban life and creates a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among world cities.

Films that use an eloquent artistic vision to promote a blissful human life will be considered for the competition section, according to the festival's website.

The 7th Shahr International Film Festival is slated for July 17-22, 2019, in Tehran.
