Award-winning director and screenwriter Hassan Fathi has started work on a new series.
‘Jeyran’ named after the wife of former Iran monarch Nasser al-Din Shah Qajari is the director’s latest project which will be a historical drama.
Written by Ehsan Javanmard, ‘Jeyran’ showcases various twists and turns involved in the life of one of Nasser al-Din Shah’s wife.
According to the director, although Jeyran historically existed, “the story will most definitely be intertwined with fiction.”
Other historical figures to be portrayed in the movie include Nasser al-Din’s sister.
Hassan Fathi is an Iranian screenwriter and film director who earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Shahid Beheshti University and his Master’s degree in Directing from Azad University.
He wrote and directed some theater productions, such as ‘Hey Hey Matador’ in 1990 and ‘In the Cold Streets of the Night’ in 1994.
Afterwards, he directed two Tele-theater mysteries in 1994 and 1997, which were based on Agatha Christie’s novels.
Fathi has directed a few movies as well, including ‘Marriage Iranian Style’, ‘Retribution’, and ‘Another Day’.
He has also directed a number of series, many of which have appeared on ifilm including ‘The Tenth Night’, ‘Lighter than Darkness’, ‘Zero Degree Turn’, ‘The Forbidden Fruit’, ‘On the Way to Zayandeh Rood’, and ‘The Times’.
