‘Golnesa’ to screen in South Africa

Durban International Film Festival in South Africa is to host Iranian movie ‘Golnesa’.

The movie directed by Sattar Chamani-Gol will be screened at the 40th edition of the event.

The African festival will screen ‘Golnesa’ on July 23 and 28, 2019.

Produced by Yousef Karimi, the film is to represent Iran alongside some other movies.

‘Golnesa’ tells the story of a young Afghan couple, Golmammad and Golnesa, who are illegal immigrants in Iran.

Working in a traditional brick-making kiln in the suburbs of Tehran, they have to deal with challenges of illegal immigration as well as routine life hardships.

Launched in 1979, DIFF is an annual film festival that takes place in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa. It is one of the oldest and largest film festivals in Southern Africa which presents more than 200 screenings celebrating the best in South African, African and international cinema.

The 40th edition of the festival is currently underway from July 18 – 28, 2019.
