'Shams-ol-Emareh' actress sits for an exclusive interview with ifilm

In an exclusive interview with ifilm, 'Shams-ol-Emareh' actress Roya Teymourian has talked about the importance of stage acting in her success as an actor.

Iran actress Roya Teymourian is a familiar face for TV viewers because of acting in different TV series. Theater actors remember her successful performance on stage. She is so interested in reading books. Professional book readers have met her in the book stores several times.

Here is a selected part translation of an interview with her conducted by ifilm in Persian:

ifilm: You have lots of everlasting roles like the ones that you played in 'Shams-ol-Emareh', ‘The Tenth Night’, ‘Zero Degree Turn’ but these days your fans see you in TV series less than before. Could you please elaborate on that?

Roya Teymourian: Yes, I’m so sorry for this. I like working for TV, because more people see me in this type of work. In the streets and other places people ask me about the reason that I appear before camera less than previous years. I find myself unable to find an answer for them. In fact some economic reasons as well as the weak scripts which are penned for TV series are behind that.

ifilm: These days that you are less active in both cinema and TV, What keeps you busy?

Roya Teymourian: What I always crave for is theatre. If I succeeded to do the job well in the realm of image, it is because of what I learned in theatre and on the stage. My everlasting wish is to have the opportunity to perform in a play every year. In recent years I have made attempts to reserve a theatre hall but it was fruitless.

ifilm: You have been far from theatre stage for 5 years. What motivated you to come back to stage?

Roya Teymourian: I believe in the young talents and their ideas. I believe if the experienced actors accompany the younger actors, it will end to good happenings. We are in need of such unity and this is not the first time that I work with the youth.
