Australia to host ‘Son of the Sea’

Iranian animation ‘Son of the Sea’ is slated to be screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.

Directed by Abbas Jalali-Yekta, the short animation qualified for the official selection of the 65th edition of the Australian event.

“A man lives in a house with his wife and the illusion of their son on the wall! This hallucination gradually creates complications in their life,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Son of the Sea’ was awarded at the 2019 edition of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France.

MIFF has been continuously running since 1952, making it the leading film festival in Australia and one of the world’s oldest film festivals, alongside Cannes and Berlin.

Presenting a curated global program of innovative screen experiences and the world’s largest showcase of exceptional Australian filmmaking, MIFF is an accessible, iconic cultural event that provides transformative experiences for audiences and filmmakers alike.

The 65th edition of the festival is slated for August 1-18, 2019.
