Award-winning filmmaker Dariush Mehrjouee has launched the preliminary phase for his latest feature ‘A Minor’.
According to a recent media report, following the completion of his screenplay, Mehrjouee is currently in the process of picking the cast and crew for his latest project.
The screenplay for ‘A Minor’, Mehrjouee’s 26th film, was jointly written by the director himself and Vahideh Mohammadifar.
Also joining the filmmaking team will be producer Reza Dormishian who produced Mehrjouee’s dark comedy ‘The Orange Suit’.
Born in 1939, Mehrjouee began his cinematic career with the 1966 film ‘Diamond 33’. It was not until his second feature film ‘Cow’ where he started to gain national and international recognition.
One of the pioneers of the new wave of Iranian cinema, Mehrjouee’s films would go on to become regular participants at foreign and domestic film festivals, winning numerous awards for the veteran filmmaker.
His 1978 film ‘The Cycle’ was featured in many international festivals including in France, Germany, Spain, Canada, the US, and China.
Mehrjouee’s 1989 classic ‘Hamoon’ was an award-winner at numerous film festivals namely the Houston International Film Festival in the US and the Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan.
‘Leila’ and ‘Mom’s Guest’, two of the director’s films which were broadcasted on ifilm were both recipients of awards at Iranian film festivals.
ifilm has most recently aired Mehrjouee's 1992 classic ‘Sara’ which was awarded at film festivals in Spain, France, and Brazil.
