Afghan fest screens Mahmoudi bros’ films

Two Iranian-Afghan films made by Jamshid Mahmoudi and his brother Navid have been featured at the Afghanistan Film Festival.

‘A Few Cubic Meters of Love’ and ‘Parting’ were among 100 prominent films in Afghanistan’s cinematic history which were screened at the event over the past week.

Directed by Navid Mahmoudi, ‘Parting’ was chosen as the Afghan entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, ‘A Few Cubic Meters of Love’ directed by Jamshid Mahmoudi bagged many awards, including the Best Film at the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

It was also selected as the Afghan entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

The Afghanistan Film Festival took place on August 3-10 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence.
