Iranian carpet weavers have rolled out a carpet for the United Nations that carries a message of peace for the world.
The carpet named ‘White Carpet’ was unveiled during a ceremony in the Iranian city of Boukan in West Azerbaijan Province on Thursday.
The weavers used white as well as olive green fibers, with motif decorations of 196 birds carrying olive branches to symbolize world peace.
The carpet is a combination of two separate pieces measuring 12 and 16 square meters each.
Originally made to be permanently exhibited at the United Nations, the carpet also depicts the word ‘Peace’ written on the texture of the carpet in 105 languages from different countries around the globe.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Hassan Ghashghavi attended the unveiling special ceremony in Boukan.
