US film festival to host ‘Manicure’

Iranian short film ‘Manicure’ is set to be featured at the 46th annual Telluride Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Arman Fayyaz, the 14-minute film will be competing with 12 other short films as part of the festival’s “Filmmakers of Tomorrow” section.

'Manicure' is the story of a young man having trouble coping with the sudden death of his wife, while facing pressure from an angry mob of rural residents after a shocking fact is revealed during her burial.

The award-winning flick has competed in over 80 international film festivals to include the Sundance, Cleveland, and Palm Springs film festivals all in the US and the Encounters Short Film Festival in the UK.

International awards for ‘Manicure’ include Best Short Film at the 5th Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival (LADFF) in the US, Best Film at the Big Bang International Short Film Festival in Athens, Greece, and Special Jury Prize at the 2018 Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival (Curta Cinema) in Brazil.

Known as one of the most notable film festivals in the US, every year the festival features many films that will go on to contend at the Academy Awards.

The 46th edition of the Telluride Film Festival will kick off August 30 and will conclude Monday, September 2.
