US fest nominates ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’

‘Copper Notes of a Dream’ by Iranian director Reza Farahmand has been nominated at the Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) in the US.

The doc is competing for Harrell Award for Best Documentary Feature at the US event.

Produced by Morteza Shabani, the documentary narrates the story of a group of children (ten-year-old Molouk and his friends) who collect the copper wires of a war-torn area to make money.

In a moving scene of the doc, the children write notes on the walls to apologize for their theft in case the people who have fled the war ever return.

As its first international presence, the doc was screened at the 30th Semaine de la critique (Critic’s Week), an independent section organized by the Swiss Association of Film Journalists in cooperation with the Locarno Film Festival.

ArtHouse Cinematheque is responsible for the international distribution of the documentary.

Founded in 2005 as a small town film festival, the CIFF is now one of the recognized doc film festivals in the world. Its central purpose is to make a connection between the industry and the fellow filmmakers.

The 15th edition of the Camden festival will take place on September 12-15, 2019.
