‘The Warden’ weekly sales increase 30%

Award-winning film ‘The Warden’ has seen 30% sales increase at Iran box-office.

On the verge of its 15th week of public screening, the film which has been in theaters since Eid al-Fitr gained a high place on Iran box office chart jumping from 9th to 4th spot.

Written and directed by Nima Javidi and produced by Majid Matlabi, ‘The Warden’ is a flick about an old prison in 1960s Iran which is in the process of being evacuated in order to make room for an airport expansion project.

The head of the prison, Major Nemat Jahed (Navid Mohammadzadeh) and his officers are in the midst of transferring the prisoners to the new facility when they realize one of the prisoners is missing.

Navid Mohammadzadeh, Parinaz Izadyar, Atila Pesyani, Setareh Pesyani, Habib Rezaee, and Mani Haqiqi are among the film’s cast.

Premiering on the opening day of the 37th Fajr Film Festival, Javidi’s flick received seven nominations at the festival including second place for the Audience Favorite Film award while winning the festival’s Special Jury Award.
