US AFI highlights Iran actor miniseries

American Film Institute names top 10 movies and TV series of the year, with ‘The Night Of’ starring Iranian actor Peyman Moaadi among the picks.

The HBO miniseries starring the Iranian actor best known for his role in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar winning film ‘A Separation’ was chosen among the best movies and TV series for the year.

‘The Americans’, ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Crime’ are among other chosen nominees.

The awards will be presented to the picks at a luncheon on January 6, 2017 in Los Angeles.

The Night Of is based on Criminal Justice, a 2008–09 British television series. In the miniseries, Moaadi plays Salim Khan, a Pakistani guy living in the US.

Born in New York, Moaadi, 44, grew up in Tehran. He is an actor, scriptwriter and director.
