FIFF to present works by prominent filmmakers

Fajr International Film Festival is to dedicate a special section to works by masters of cinema.

Three Iranian and 12 foreign films are to be screened at the special section of the festival.

Works by prominent figures of cinema including American film director and screenwriter Terrence Malick, Polish film and theater director Andrzej Wajda, English film and TV director Ken Loach, German screenwriter, author, film director and documentarian Werner Herzog, and Cambodian documentarian, film director and screenwriter Rithy Panh are to be presented at the special section.

Fajr Festivals are annually held in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn) which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Fajr Festivals include Fajr Film Festival, Fajr Theater Festival, Fajr Poem Festival, Fajr Music Festival and Fajr Festival of Visual Arts.

The secretary of the 35th edition of the event is Iranian screenwriter and film director Reza Mirkarimi.
