Iranian filmmaker Ali Asgari has been selected to join the jury panel of the 16th “In The Palace” International Film Festival in Bulgaria.
“Director of feature films for more than 600 international festivals and holder of more than 150 titles,” the event’s website wrote in introducing Asgari.
The filmmaker was born in Tehran. He studied cinema in Italy. He is an alumnus of the Berlinale Talent Campus 2013.
Two of his short films, ‘More Than Two Hours’ (2013) and ‘The Silence’ (2016, co-directed by Farnoush Samadi), were in competition for the Short Film Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
Established in 2003, “In The Palace” is dedicated to short films up to 27 minutes.
The principal objective of the festival is to present and promote contemporary short film from Bulgaria, Europe, and the world.
The 16th edition of the “In The Palace” is slated for September 19-26, 2019.
