The 20th edition of the Asiatica Film Festival in Italy has been screening ‘Castle of Dreams’ and ‘Sly’, both starring Iranian actor Hamed Behdad.
‘Sly’ by Kamal Tabrizi went on the Italian screen on Friday October 4, 2019.
The 90-minute flick narrates the story of Qodrat who wants to become a member of parliament, but he has a reputation for recklessness and taking arbitrary action.
Deciding his best course of action is negotiating with assorted parties and politicians, none take him seriously until he’s connected to a single, notorious incident.
Hamed Behdad, Vishka Asayesh, Azadeh Samadi, Reza Naji, Mani Haqiqi, Mohammad Bahrani, Siavash Cheraghi, and Behzad Qadianlou are among ‘Sly’ cast.
‘Castle of Dreams’ will go on the Italian screen on Tuesday October 8, 2019.
The 86-minute film tells the story of a 42-year-old father of two. He unintentionally kills a relative. A court of law rules the murder was accidental.
Getting out of prison, he leaves his wife and kids and moves to another city. After a while the father must go back to his home town as his wife is brain-dead.
He has to take his son and daughter away from their mother who is hospitalized. Although reluctant, he tries every means to fulfill the children’s fantasy of building a dream castle that was drawn by their mother.
Starring role of the film has been portrayed by Behdad who won the Best Actor award from the Shanghai International Film Festival in China.
The film’s cast members include Mohammad Asgari, Zhila Shahi, Akbar Ayeen, Azadeh Nobahar, Mohammad Ashkanfar, Youna Tadayyon, and Niyousha Alipour.
Born in 1973, Behdad spent his childhood in Mashhad and the capital city of Tehran. Behdad studied Theatre at the Islamic Azad University.
He made his film debut in 2000 with the lead role in ‘End Game’, a role that won him a nomination for a Best Actor Crystal Simorgh at the 19th Fajr International Film Festival.
Behdad subsequently appeared in several movies, mostly taking supporting roles, but his outstanding performances won him several awards and nominations at different national and International film festivals.
He won critical and popular acclaim for the wartime flick ‘The Third Day’ (2006). He was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Crystal Simorgh at the 25th Fajr International Film Festival for his portrayal of an Iraqi officer in love with an Iranian girl during the Iran-Iraq war in this movie.
In 2010, Behdad finally won his first Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘Crime’.
The 20th Asiatica Film Festival has been slated for October 1-10, 2019 in Rome, Italy.
