Iranian feature wins nom at Korean filmfest

Iranian feature film ‘Cinema Donkey’ has won nomination at the 2019 Busan Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.

Directed by Shahed Ahmadlou, the film, which is on display at the ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ section of the Korean film event, has been selected as a candidate to receive the Kim Ji-seok award.

‘Cinema Donkey’ is a dark comedy that shows the untold truth behind connections in the world of filmmaking.

It narrates the story of a film crew who are working on a film project. They need a donkey for some of the scenes. This makes the group to face lots of events.

Ahmadlou, the director of the flick, has already had some of his works such as ‘The Honeymoon’ and ‘The Special Unit’ aired by ifilm. He also appeared in ‘Freedom’ as an actor.

The son of late Iranian actor Khosro Shakibaee, Pouriya Shakibaee, is among the cast members of the flick.

Kim Ji-seok award was established in the year 2017 to honor the late Kim Ji-seok who was a founding member of BIFF.

Founded in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

The 24th BIFF kicked off on October 3 and it is set to wrap up on October 12, 2019.
