Iran’s ‘The Skier’ has been selected to compete at the 7th edition of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children & Youth (SIFF) in the United Arab Emirates.
Directed by Fereydoun Najafi, 'The Skier' is about a boy from Iran’s Kouhrang County who is going to take a little ibex to a tribal ritual in a snowy remote region in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, but he faces many problems on his way.
The movie documents vanishing tribal traditions and paints a portrait of the ethnic community of the Bakhtiari people in southwest Iran.
So far, ‘The Skier’ has participated at several domestic and international festivals and has garnered various awards.
Launched in 2013, the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children & Youth is the first children and youth film festival in the UAE.
The festival is “dedicated to enhance the media literacy of children and youth, foster children’s and youth’s creativity and showcase the very best in filmmaking for, by and about children and young people,” the SIFF website reads.
The 7th edition of the event will take place in the Emirati city of Sharjah on October 13-18, 2019.
