The 19th edition of the Yari Iranian Film Festival in Sweden has awarded ‘Orange Days’.
The feature film received the best film award of the Swede event on October 13, 2019.
Directed by Arash Lahouti, the 102-minute movie tells the story of Aban, the only female contractor in the cutthroat and male-dominated orange harvesting industry, who enters a competition to win a large contract. Her efforts remain futile while anyone involved in her story tries to fail her.
Hediyeh Tehrani, Ali Mosaffa, Mehran Ahmadi, Alireza Ostadi, Zhila Shahi, Sadaf Asgari, Roya Hosseini, Amin Golestaneh, Akram Alamdar, and Leili Farhadpour are among the cast members of the flick.
It has gone on screen at some global events, including the 14th Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, the 18th Calgary International Film Festival and the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, the 42nd São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, the 2018 Torun International Film Festival in Poland, the 2018 MedFilm Festival in Italy, the 8th Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey, the 16th Chennai International Film Festival in India, the 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival, the 11th Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria, the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival and the 2nd MSP Iranian Film Festival in the US, as well as the 6th Visions of Iran film festival in Germany.
Slated for screening at the 7th Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain, ‘Orange Days’ brought its actress Tehrani the Best Actress award at the 2018 CineIran Festival in Canada as well as a special mention at the 18th Imagineindia Film Festival in Spain and won three awards at the 67th Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival in Germany.
The Yari festival is annually organized by Yari, an Uppsala-based charity organization that helps street children in Iran to go to school and also raises funds for the construction of schools and libraries for children.
The 19th Yari was held on October 12-13, 2019 in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.
