‘Golnesa’ actress wins award in US

Iran actress Yeganeh Rajabi has won an award at the Love International Film Festival (LIFF) in the US.

Rajabi received the Best Actress Award of the 2019 edition of the American film event for her role in Sattar Chamani-Gol’s award-winning ‘Golnesa’.

The film has also succeeded to win four nominations at the festival, including best film for Sattar Chamani-Gol, best cinematography for Mohammad Fakouri and best actor for Ali-Mohammad Radmanesh.

The Iranian movie tells the story of a young Afghan couple, Golmammad and Golnesa, who are illegal immigrants in Iran.

Working in a traditional brick kiln in the suburbs of Tehran, they have to deal with challenges of illegal immigration as well as routine life hardships.

The film has taken part at some global cinematic events, including the 51st WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and the 21st Brooklyn Film Festival in the US, the 3rd R.E.D International Film Festival in Norway, as well as the 3rd Slemani International Film Festival in Iraq.

‘Golnesa’ has grabbed two awards at the 14th Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema in the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia and the Best Feature Film award at the 7th Global Nonviolent Film Festival in the US.

The latest award bagged by ‘Golnesa’ is the Award of Excellence at the 2019 Accolade Global Film Competition in the US.

The 2019 Love International Film Festival focused on bringing films and filmmakers from the international community whose work brings the world closer together and promotes love and healing through cinema.

LIFF was held on September 18 through September 21, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.
