Worldwide fest hosting ‘Driving Lessons’

Iranian film ‘Driving Lessons’ is participating at the underway edition of Switzerland-based Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival.

Marzieh Riahi’s ‘Driving Lessons’ is representing Iran at the 17th edition of the Swiss event.

The film is about Bahareh who must have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not left together without a third party’s presence.

‘Driving Lessons’ is starring Linda Kiani, Alireza Sanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

The film has grabbed several global prizes, including a Jury Prize at the 18th Topaz Film Festival by Women in Film Dallas in the US, the Best Film award at the 22nd Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, the Best Short Drama Award at the 2019 “I Will Tell” international film festival in the UK and the Best Short Film Award at the 2019 Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival in Armenia.

The short film also attended several global events, including the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Edmonton International Film Festival in Canada.

The Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival is “an exceptional eleven-day event with a unique concept – a transnational film festival simultaneously taking place in multiple cities on five continents worldwide, with three main components: shnit PLAYGROUNDS, taking place in all of our PLAYGROUND cities, shnit SHORTS, in cinemas all around the world, and our shnit FINALE awards ceremony in New York,” the event’s website reads.

The Shnit PLAYGROUNDS cities are the Swiss city of Bern, Argentina’s Buenos Aires, Egypt’s Cairo, Cape Town in South Africa, China’s Hong Kong, the Russian capital of Moscow, San Jose in Costa Rica, and New York in the US.

The 17th edition of the festival kicked off on October 17 and is set to come to an end on October 28, 2019.
