‘African Violet’ to be screened in Australia

‘African Violet’ is scheduled to be screened at the Persian Film Festival 2019 in Australia.

The movie, directed by Mona Zandi-Haqiqi, will be screened at the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of the festival.

The 93-minute film is a compassionate drama of strength and reunion about Shokouh, a woman who finds out that her ex-husband, Fereydoun, has been placed in a nursing home by their children.

She and her second husband take an unconventional step to take care of Fereydoun in their own home.

The film stars Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Saeed Aqakhani, Reza Babak, Mehdi Hosseininia, Roya Javidnia, and Neda Jebraeeli.

‘African Violet’ has gone on screen at several global events, including the 2nd MSP Iranian Film Festival in the US, the 25th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France, and the 2019 Edinburgh Iranian Festival in Scotland.

It is the winner of the special jury award at the 2019 Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon.

Founded in 2011, the Persian International Film Festival showcases the best of Iranian cinema and the Persian speaking world in Australia.

The event will kick off on December 4-8, 2019.
